We were engaged by a representative of Barclays PLC ahead of their move into the 13th floor of the newly developed Ewart Building, located adjacent to Belfast’s Grand Central Hotel in Belfast. The client required a fully distributed satellite TV system to serve multiple television points across the entire floor, despite the building having no existing satellite or TV infrastructure in place.

Our scope of works included the design and installation of a commercial-grade, large-aperture satellite system mounted at roof level, along with the structured cabling required to deliver reliable signal distribution down to the 13th floor via designated risers and containment routes.

The installation presented several technical challenges. The roof construction featured a high-specification waterproof membrane, alongside strict structural and wind-loading limitations, ruling out any form of roof penetration. To overcome this, we utilised a non-penetrating, ballasted mounting solution, securing the satellite system using concrete ballast slabs. This approach ensured full structural stability while preserving the integrity of the roof and maintaining the manufacturer’s warranty.

The result was a discreet, robust and fully compliant satellite TV installation, delivered to commercial standards and tailored to the constraints of a modern high-rise city centre development.
